Since 2010, Samsung Engineering has further enhanced its international EPC portfolio by offering an ever-expanding list of engineering services. Most recently, building on its proven expertise in downstream facilities, Samsung Engineering has positioned itself to become a full-service EPC firm for the hydrocarbon industry including offshore, also power industry, too. With this vertical integration, a single barrel of crude oil could potentially travel from reservoir to refinery to power plant, all on systems designed and built by Samsung Engineering. This increased capability has resulted in Samsung Engineering being commissioned to build upstream plants in Malaysia, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, power plants in Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan.
Additionally, in the pursuit of a truly global corporate clientele, Samsung Engineering has applied lessons learned from its expansion into the Middle East and Southeast Asia and has begun to expand into Latin America, Central Asia, Central Africa, and the United States. Its recent upward momentum has attracted the attention not only of national hydrocarbon firms but also international oil companies like Dow Chemical and ExxonMobil. Looking to the future, Samsung Engineering has committed itself to an ambitious program of growth that includes attracting and retaining an even larger international workforce and improving its core services to cover an even broader family of sophisticated, cutting-edge products.

In the early 2000s, Samsung Engineering redoubled its commitment to innovation and business diversification. Seeking more robust economic environments overseas, it expanded into one of the most competitive regions for the EPC industry, the Middle East. Beginning in Saudi Arabia with the SPC PDH/PP plant in 2001 and the SABIC Butene-1 plant in 2003, Samsung Engineering began to establish its reputation in the region.
To execute these larger and more complex international EPC projects, Samsung Engineering concentrated on enlisting talented engineers and streamlining its business processes. These efforts paid off in 2006 when Samsung Engineering was chosen, along with three other world-class EPC firms, to work on the TASNEE ethylene plant, which was the largest ethylene project ever built. By successfully completing the TASNEE project ahead of schedule, on budget and with an exceptional safety record, Samsung Engineering solidified its reputation in the region, leading to a continuous series of orders in and around the Middle East. Meanwhile, Samsung Engineering continued to nurture its strong business partnerships in Southeast Asia and then began to make inroads in both the United States and Central America.
