Samsung Engineering builds “Hope Library”for children in Vietnam 

[Long Son Island, Vietnam] November 5, 2019

Samsung Engineering opened earlier this month with Global Civic Sharing a Hope Library at Bach Dang Secondary School in Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu Province, Vietnam. The opening ceremony was held with more than 800 students. Through this hope library project, old library facilities for three schools have been remodeled in Vũng Tàu and more than 7,000 books equipment such as desks, computers, and air conditioners to each school donated.

A Samsung Engineering spokesperson stated the goal and purpose of Samsung Engineering’s “Hope Library”: “Major goal for us is to eliminate illiteracyand promote community spirit through building a public library, which influencesand fosters the Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu Province for many years to come. Samsung Engineering is proud that have the honor to deliver knowledge as an integratedcommunity member to this community. 
 
After the opening of the library, Samsung Engineering introduced the Eco-generationschool as part of the Junior Engineering Academy to children and youth of thecommunity.

The Junior Engineering Academy is one of Samsung Engineering’s signatureCSR programs, which provides the opportunity to learn what engineering is andthe importance of energy through various education programs named such as,“What is energy?”, “What is Engineering?” and “Eco city project”. This time thestudents had a chance to build a solar house by themselves and learn how thesolar energy works.

Samsung Engineering wants to give back to the local community wherewe conduct business, with the collective pursuit of our clients, employees andcommunity it was important for us to support Long Son Island as well as Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu Province in Vietnam.

Samsung Engineering started the “Global Hope Library” campaign in 2012 and donated libraries in counties such as Iraq, Bolivia, Azerbaijan, Algeria,Nepal, Thailand, etc.

Samsung Engineering plans to continue building libraries in countriesaround the world to promote education in the local communities.
